1. Why is the lubricating grease lost or reduced during use
There are three reasons for grease loss:
1. Physical reasons: due to the operation of the friction part, the lubrication is constantly affected by the shear stress, which damages the soap structure and softens it;
2. Chemical reasons: due to the influence of heat and air on the friction and lubrication parts, the base oil and thickening agent are oxidized, resulting in the destruction of the soap structure of the grease, and softening and loss during use;
3. Causes of impurities: abrasion occurs in the sports body. These metal powders can accelerate the oxidation of the grease to produce organic acids, thereby destroying the structure of the grease and causing the grease to fail. The correct selection of grease according to the operating conditions of the equipment (including load, temperature, speed, etc.) can extend the service life of the grease.
2. Reasons for lubricant failure and identification methods
1. High temperature influence-Lubricating oil will be oxidized and become invalid when exposed to high temperature environment for a long time, and it will become black and thick; the corrosion inside the lubricating oil will increase
2. Impurities-mainly come from dust, metal abrasive particles, leakage (fuel, water, etc.) in the air, lubricating oil oxides, and substances produced by fuel combustion.
3. Additive failure-some lubricating oils have decreased performance due to the failure or use up of additives. For example, if the anti-wear agent in the lubricating oil is used up, the anti-wear property will decrease.
4. Viscosity index enhancer is ineffective-because the long chain of organic molecules is broken, it no longer has a viscosity increasing effect.
5. Base oil failure-the base oil is the carrier of the additive. If the base oil fails, the additive will not work.
