It is incorrect to say that you don’t have to worry about rust on items when using anti-rust oil. Sometimes the workpiece will still rust when using anti-rust oil, most of which are caused by the following reasons:
①Before applying anti-rust oil, the workpiece was not cleaned and dried thoroughly
It is very important to clean and dry the surface of the metal workpiece before applying the anti-rust oil, otherwise its effect will be greatly reduced. When the workpiece is carefully cleaned, oil stains and other dirt are removed, and the inspection before oiling is performed after drying, you should wear film gloves, not directly with your hands or wearing dirty gloves.
②Wrong selection of anti-rust oil or poor quality of anti-rust oil
It is necessary to choose anti-rust oil according to the selection requirements of anti-rust oil. If the wrong anti-rust oil is selected, it will inevitably cause corrosion. However, if the quality of the anti-rust oil is unstable, it may also cause rust. Therefore, the anti-rust oil must be checked to meet the quality requirements before it can be used.
③Poor coating
If the anti-rust oil is used improperly, it will not be able to exert its due effect. If the anti-rust oil is hot dip coating, it is important to control the temperature, generally it should be controlled at 65℃-95℃. For large workpieces, it should stay in the dip coating container for a period of time, otherwise the coating that suddenly condenses will be too thick. It is easy to fall off, and the entire workpiece should be immersed. If a solvent-diluted anti-rust oil is used, it should stay for a period of time after dipping to allow the solvent to fully evaporate before packaging.
④ Poor packaging
The hard film anti-rust oil film has good strength and toughness. Generally, there is no big collision problem and no external packaging is required. But when it suffers a serious collision, it should be protected by wrapping paper such as wax paper. Oil film anti-rust oil cannot withstand friction and pressure, so be careful not to subject it to collision. When applying oil, let the oil drain and dry first, and then use packaging materials (various packaging papers, plastic films, etc.) for protection , Packaging paper should have strict requirements. Generally, the content of chloride ion should not exceed 0.1%, and the content of sulfate should not exceed 0.25%. It should be neutral, non-corrosive to metals, and have a certain degree of mechanical strength, with low water permeability and low air permeability. Oil tight. Especially when using vapor phase inhibitor, if the packaging is not good, the vapor phase corrosion inhibitor will leak and cause corrosion. The gasket material used should also be carefully selected to ensure that it will not cause corrosion.
Generally short-term or process anti-rust, the anti-rust work is completed after applying the above-mentioned anti-rust oil, but for long-term sealing and anti-rust, packaging must be carried out to protect the anti-rust film from damage in the transportation inventory and reduce the invasion of corrosive media. Generally, materials with good sealing properties and soft film properties are used, such as plastic film, aluminum-plastic film, wax paper, etc. are commonly used.
