The reasons that affect the softening of lubricating grease are as follows:
1. The consistency of grease will change due to temperature changes when it is running. The more viscous grease is, the more obvious it will become softer in the gearbox that has been running for a long time.
The higher the temperature, the softer, the viscosity decreases with the rise of temperature; the lower the temperature, the more viscous the viscosity, the viscosity increases with the low temperature, and the grease becomes thicker.
2. The scope of use of the base oil used in lubricating grease: it will affect the morphological change and viscosity change of the grease when the temperature changes.
The temperature application range of base oil in mineral oil is -20℃+130℃; the temperature application range of semi-synthetic oil is -30℃+150℃; the temperature range of fully synthetic oil is about -40℃+200℃.
The wider the use temperature of the base oil, the weaker the ratio of the consistency form to the viscosity change of the lubricating grease, and the ratio of changes during operation will decrease accordingly.
Based on the above reasons, it is an inevitable fact that lubricating grease will become soft when the temperature rises in the rotating gearbox, and the viscosity will decrease.
