In the daily use of lubricating oil, some customers often find that there are visible fine impurities and sediments in the lubricating oil. There are many reasons for this phenomenon. Some have an impact on product quality, and some have an impact on product use. no effect. First, let's understand the definition of impurities and precipitation.
Mechanical impurities-mechanical impurities refer to the sum of the amount of substances in petroleum or petroleum products that are insoluble in oil and prescribed solvents. Such as silt, dust, iron filings, fiber and certain insoluble salts. Mechanical impurities can be removed by precipitation or filtration. For light oil, mechanical impurities will block the oil circuit and promote raw rubber or corrosion; for boiler fuel, it will block the nozzle, reduce combustion efficiency and increase fuel consumption; for lubricating oil, it will destroy the oil film, increase wear and block oil filtration To promote the formation of carbon deposits. Therefore, it is called mechanical impurities. Mechanical impurities come from external pollution in the production, storage and use of oil or the wear and tear of the machinery itself. Most of them are sand, gravel and carbon deposits, and some organic impurities that are insoluble in solvents caused by additives. Metal salt.
Sediment-Total sediment refers to all inorganic and organic substances in the oil that are insoluble in solvents (such as toluene) (as defined in ISO 10307), and is one of the specifications for medium and heavy fuel oil. Sediments are often mechanical impurities, or they are introduced during processing, transportation, and storage. High sediment content can easily block filters, nozzles, valves, etc., and cause or aggravate the wear of mechanical parts.
In addition, the main problems of precipitation and impurities in lubricants are caused by the following two aspects:
1. Impurity contamination occurs during the storage, transportation and use of lubricating oil, which leads to the entry of impurities in these processes, which easily affects the quality of oil, so try to eliminate and reduce it.
2. The deposits are mainly high-viscosity internal combustion engine oil with a large dosage, which will precipitate to varying degrees at low temperatures. The deposits are not impurities produced after long-term use of the equipment, or foreign impurities enter the contaminated oil, so it has no effect on the normal use of the oil.
For the above two causes of precipitation and impurities, different treatment methods need to be adopted.
New equipment: During the installation of the lubricating oil pipeline system, it is necessary to keep the pipe clean and the lubricating oil system of the unit should be circulated and flushed. Assuming that the oil system is unclean and there is dirt in the pipe, it will affect the normal operation of the unit. The bearing bush is burned out, so it needs to be flushed through oil circulation to provide guarantee for the long-term stable operation of the unit.
Gearboxes and equipment used for a long time: Some impurities are often generated in gearboxes and equipment that have been used for a long time. The application parts can be flushed with flushing oil until the impurities in the oil reach the specified index, and the The flushing oil should be discarded or used for other purposes. If you want to use these flushing oils, you must carry out the corresponding oil product analysis and testing, and the cleanliness can be used after reaching a certain standard, and it is required to strengthen filtration and water cutting before and during use. Make sure that the applied parts are not contaminated before adding lubricant.
