2. The dropping point refers to the lowest temperature point when the grease changes from solid to liquid, in °C; Although it is one of the indicators reflecting the high-temperature performance of the grease, the dropping point cannot determine the use temperature of the grease alone. , The antioxidant capacity of the base oil is different, the types of tackifiers are different, the oxidation catalysis of the base oil and the choice of antioxidant additives are also the main reasons for determining the temperature of the grease.
3. Lubricating grease cannot be softened and lost at the highest working temperature of the used part, which is one of the important factors for selection. The main reference character for determining the temperature is the dropping point. The dropping point is the temperature at which the first drop of grease is softened by heat under the test conditions. In any case, the maximum use temperature of the grease must be above 20~30℃ of the dropping point.
4. It must be pointed out that the dropping point is not the only criterion for determining the maximum use temperature of grease. For example, lithium-based greases, expansive soil-based greases, and complex calcium-based greases made of mineral oil have a dripping point as high as 190 to 250°C. However, if they are exposed to high temperatures for a long time, these greases will oxidize and deteriorate, and mineral oils will easily After evaporation, the grease becomes hard and dry. Therefore, the maximum operating temperature of grease made of mineral oil is mostly within 120~130℃.
