The optical damping grease must fix its own adhesion on the lubricating part so as not to exceed the range of the grease being squeezed out due to the rotation and stretching of the friction part.
Damping is more important in optical equipment. In addition to maintaining the operating state of the optical equipment in use, it can also give users a very comfortable feel.
Adhesion and damping are complementary in the design of the optical fat ratio. Adjusting the relationship between the two brings a very ideal use effect to the optical instrument.
Dispersion resistance refers to the ability of grease to absorb base oil. Optical grease with good dispersion ensures that the base oil will not diffuse to non-lubricated parts due to capillary phenomena, contaminate other optical systems, and affect the normal use of optical equipment.
The low volatility of light damping grease ensures that the instrument is not contaminated by oil mist during use; the good mildew resistance mainly prevents the proliferation of mold in the optical instrument. In principle, optical damping grease needs to meet the requirements of -40~80, but in general civilian optical instruments, the low temperature can be adjusted appropriately according to the needs of the actual working environment.
For medium-decayed optical greases, low-temperature performance can basically meet the requirements below -40°C after using low-solidification mineral oil or low-solidification synthetic oil. For high-damping optical greases, due to the high tackifier content in the fit, it will have a greater impact on the low-temperature torque of the optical grease. It is often difficult to balance damping and low-temperature performance in the fit design. For example, optical grease used in adjustments, hinges, etc. of optical telescopes.
