Silicone grease is a secondary processed product of silicone oil, and its main component is a high molecular compound (organosilicon compound) containing silicon atoms in the main chain. At present, the most important silicone polymer is polysiloxane. Polysiloxane is a chain, cyclic or network polymer compound formed by polymerization of many bond-containing monomers, and is usually also called silicone. Its structural feature is that it contains a basic skeleton in which silicon and oxygen atoms are alternately arranged. Each silicon atom is connected to an organic group. The silicon-oxygen bond in polysiloxane has high stability. The organic group is methyl, Longer alkyl, fluoroalkyl, phenyl, vinyl, and some other groups.

 

The main ingredient of commonly used cosmetics is actually the same as the main ingredient of thermal grease, namely polysiloxane.

 

Silicone grease has the same characteristics as silicone oil. It has excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, physiological inertia and small surface tension. In addition, it has a low viscosity-temperature coefficient and high compression resistance. . In particular, its thermal stability and oxidation stability make it difficult to deteriorate in long-term contact with air at 150°C. The oxidation effect is also slow when it comes in contact with oxygen and chlorine at 200°C. The use temperature can generally reach -50- 150℃, it has good lubricity to various substrates and has no corrosive effect.

 

These characteristics of silicone grease make it the best candidate for thermal conductivity. The small surface tension allows it to spread well into the gap between the surface of the chip and the radiator. The thermal stability ensures that it can work normally at high temperatures, and the electrical insulation ensures the safety of other electronic components. In order to enhance its thermal conductivity, some functional fillers, such as metal oxides, are added to the silicone grease to make thermal conductive silicone grease.
